Creamed Green Beans & Onions

tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 cup half and half
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 (20-oz.) pkg. frozen small onions, thawed and well drained
2 (9-oz.) pkgs. frozen French style green beans, thawed
and well drained
12 slices cheddar cheese (mild or medium sharp)
Preheat
oven to 350 degrees. In large saucepan melt butter, stir
in mustard, flour, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring over
low heat until bubbly; gradually stir in half and half.
Stir in vegetables. In 8-inch square baking dish, place
1/3 vegetable mixture; top with 4 slices cheese. Repeat
2 times, ending with cheese and then nuts. Bake uncovered
35 minutes or until hot. Serves 8. NOTE: This dish may
be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated. Increase baking
time 10 minutes.
